Hibou Gilded Ceramic Radio by Celia Torvisco & Raphael Pluvinage

Hibou is a conductive ceramic radio created by French designers Celia Torvisco and Raphael Pluvinage. The decorative patterns on the body of the radio – painted using fine palladium paint that has conductive properties – serve not only as ornamental elements, but also as the controls of the radio. Each motif matches a particular setting: on/off, volume and frequency. The patterns were designed for optimum control of the functionality the serve: the long lines on the side of the radio allow for a more nuanced sound control, while the large metallic section on top acts as an on/off button that’s hard to miss.
