Handmade Ceramic Growler by Kaufmann Mercantile

These ceramic flip tops by Kaufmann Mercantile are handmade in Portland, Oregon and feature rubber gaskets to seal in carbonation and keep carbonated beverages fresh for days. Inspired by the late 19th century small galvanized pails that workers used to use to carry beer home from their local pub (often subsidized by their employer), the word ‘growler’ refers to the rumbling sound the beer made when sloshing around and releasing carbon dioxide that escaped from the lid of these pails. Kaufmann Mercantile’s ceramic growlers come in 32 and 64 ounces and are also available in black and in a loopless version.
